Day 1
Your wonderful outing begins after check-in at DVVJ in Bengtsfors at the railway station.
You may start from 9 am or later as desired. From there you cycle to Gustavsfors on a single railtrolley, a specially adapted bicycle on the railway where one of the company treads while the other sits next to it.
There are opportunities to swim at the Kråkviken beach on the way to Alcatraz.
It is a total of about 25 km to Gustavsfors and after you lock the bike at the ICA store, it is walking distance to Alcatraz.
Upon arrival with us at Alcatraz, you will receive information about the canoe, weather forecast, navigation and the area.
Then you get all the equipment needed, pack the canoe and paddle away at your own pace to paradise.
You can stay overnight anywhere, but we recommend the practical shelter places where there are windshields, fireplaces and firewood as well as an eco-toilet, in most cases.
Find an even place where you can set up your tent. All listed meals are included so you can enjoy a tasty BBQ that you can grill yourself over the campfire.
Day 2
Waking up early. After breakfast, you are expected to be back from the canoe trip on Alcatraz at 12:00. Then you will receive a lunch package at the check-out before returning home on the railtrolley. After about 18 km you can take a break and hike up to Egersknatten, a very nice hiking trail with fantastic views.
At 17:00 max. is the check-out in Bengtsfors at the railway station where your adventure ends and you are a beautiful memory richer.
It is possible to buy something extra if needed at the shop in Gustavsfors.
Sleeping bags are not included, but are available for rent.
Tip 1: Do not take to much lugage with you, everything has to fit on the railtrolley.
Tip 2: Be sure to bring your own lunch on Day 1.
Tip 3: A canoe has a loading capacity of 400kg!

Day 1
Your wonderful outing begins after check-in at DVVJ in Bengtsfors at the train station.
You may start from 9am or as desired. From there you cycle to Gustavsfors on; a single workout, a specially adapted bike on; the railroad where one of the company tramples while the other sits beside.
There are opportunities to swim at the Kråkviken beach on the way to Alcatraz.
It is a total of about 25 km to Gustavsfors and after you lock the bike at the ICA store, it is walking distance to Alcatraz.
Upon arrival, you check in at the reception, determine the time for gourmet and breakfast and receive the key to your room.
Our hostel is simple, but the view is fantastic.
Gourmet is like an indoor grill on an electric grill plate where you get different pieces of meat to fry, salad, chives, garlic bread and sauces.
Gourmet is not a fast food but an activity; you fry, eat a little, talk, drink, enjoy a lot and start all over again. 1.5 hours is counted at least for gourmet so you have plenty of time to eat and enjoy.
If you do not feel too tired after eating, you have the opportunity to take a walk. Ask the staff which hiking trail is best for you.
A hot shower and a good night’s sleep are the best things to end the day with.
Day 2
After spending the night in the hostel, you will have a delicious breakfast and before you leave; remove the key and check out at the reception where you will receive the lunch packages.
When you have tramped for a while on the dressin you can enjoy a little break, after about 18 km there is a hiking trail that takes you up to a very nice viewpoint at Egersknatten.
Bengtsfors is still 7 km away and at max 17:00 you should check out at the train station where your adventure ends.
It was only 2 days, but also 2 days that you will never forget.
There is the opportunity to buy something extra if needed in Gustavsfors Bed linen is included, but towels are available to rent.
Tip # 1: Don’t bring to much luggage, everything will have to fit on the dressin.
Tip # 2: Be sure to bring your own lunch on Day 1.

Day 1
Rent a canoe for a 4 day trip and cycle the last bit back. The registration is made at the reception from 09:30.
Upon check-in, you will receive information about the canoe, the weather forecast, the map and everything else you need to know about the tour.
After the information you get all the necessary equipment, pack the canoe and paddle away at your own pace to paradise.
You start your adventure by canoeing on Lake Lelång and return via Lake Svärdlång and then on to Alcatraz with MTB on gravel roads.
Before it is time for dinner, you can set up the tent, collect firewood for the campfire and cook over an open fire.
After dinner you can sit by the open fire, have a cozy and warm and enjoy the sunset while eating marshmallows.
Next Day
Waking up without alarm! It sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?
Brew coffee on the fire and have a sandwich. Prepare for the next stretch and plan where you would like to spend the night.
After 2 nights on Lake Lelång we transport all persons incl. all equipment and canoes from Bengtsfors to Skåpafors where you continue on Lake Svärdlång, a very beautiful lake where you can only stay overnight at the camp sites because of the nature conservation area.
Last Day
Paddle further north to Skifors where we pick up all the equipment, the canoe and leave the mountain bikes so you can ride the last bit back to Alcatraz.
You take the dirt road to Vårvik’s church and stay there to take a deep breath, because you will soon be back to reality.
But this excursion will never disappear from your memories!
The reception closes at 20:00, so be sure to check out before that.
It is possible to buy food at the shop in Gustavsfors or / and in Bengtsfors.
Parking is free at Alcatraz.
Tip 1: Buy food that does not need to be stored in a refrigerator, you have the opportunity to shop for food half way, namely in Bengtsfors.
Tip 2: Don’t have your phone on all the time, you’ll save battery.
Tip 3: A canoe loads 400kg! So there is a lot you can bring, you may not need everything, but you CAN.
Tip 4: It is possible to order a lunch package on the last day that you receive with the mountain bike.

Participate in this “Excursion”, where you actively and adventurously discover nature in this border area
between Dalsland and Värmland and where you will really get to taste the culture!
After registration at the reception, you start the day by canoeing.
You go to Lake Lelång at your own pace. Enjoy the environment, listen carefully to what you can hear, smell and see.
Look further and try to discover what else you would have missed. Live in the here and now and relax.
When you start to get hungry, choose a nice place to have lunch. Start collecting / cutting firewood for the campfire.
You get everything you need to grill yourself.
These moose sausages are made by a local slaughterhouse where game meat from the area is processed.
After eating your fill, paddle towards Torrskog’s church. In Torrskog there is a small local brewery there
you can taste beer with the group!
and take a wonderful shower.

You can sniff some culture in Bruksmuseum in Gustavsfors, which is located in the old watermill next to Alcatraz.
In addition to showing Gustavsfors’ history, it is shown here from time to time how flour was made in the past.

When you have had enough of the paddling, you return to Alcatraz and then take a hot shower. Our hostel is simple, but the views are amazing.
Gourmet is not fast food but an activity; you fry, eat a little, talk, drink, enjoy a lot and start again.

at 20.00 is unfortunately the last time to return the kayaks.
